Whistling Cloud

logo_title_sm

I’m sure you’re wondering what this gay little fellow is up to. He’s actually the mascot for Whistling Cloud. Whistling Cloud is the a banner under which I’m going to kick around all the stuff that I self-produce. Currently that means a couple of prints, and sketchbook, but soon it’ll be Green Monk and some other fun projects in very early stages of development.

Why not just use my own name? Well, I want Whistling Cloud to be something that transcends myself, an icon that represents a certain type of experience; particularly that of awe, wonder, adventure and curiosity. I also want it to be shared experience. It’s a banner under which I can collaborate with others to create something bigger than I can achieve on my own.

With that in mind, I’m planning on exhibiting at this year’s APE con under the Whistling Cloud banner. So if you plan on going, keep your eyes peeled for the Whistling Cloud, and let me know if you have any good ideas for a name for him. If you come up with a name that’s good enough I might actually shamelessly steal it from you (I might also draw you something nice).

So, let me know what you think.

Remember When…

I used to post sketches on this blog?

A little messing around with dry-brushing:

some fiendish fellows.

This must have been some preliminary sketches for Green Monk:

The Devil’s Workshop

So, since I finished the art on Green Monk, I’ve been in just a bit of a funk. Even though I still have plenty to do to finish the project up, there is something comforting about coming home every night and drawing for a couple of hours on the same project.

To pick myself up a bit, I’ve been trying to keep busy drawing. I’ve started to attend figure drawing sessions in the evening, and I’m trying to get more familiar with drawing with  a brush (I’m pretty sure I want to use brush for my next project.)

This is just a bit of messing around I did the other day. Inking on a sketch that had done for Eat Lead Taco Clown.

Finito

Today is a day of celebration. After starting my goal in January of drawing a panel a day, I just finished all the art of Green Monk. Here are the last 16 or so frames.

I still have much to do before I’m done done, but nonetheless, finishing a project like this pretty is satisfying.
