Artcast #11 Sojourner City
For last night’s artcast I did a little bit or digital painting again. This time a bit of concept art for a friend. I spent a bit too much time setting up a perspective grid that I never used, and I’d like to spend a couple more hours on this to refine the shapes and add detail, but all in all, it turned out okay.

I haven’t been able to get the video to play yet, but I love the final result. It reminds me of a lot of the sci-fi paintings that I used to love when I was a kid. There’s a whole potential back story here that I would love to learn more about. Is this an outpost on a remote planet? Or is it the re-emergence of Earthly civilization, following years of post-apocalyptic turmoil; a refuge of progressive idealists who have not yet made it to Battle Angel Alita arrogance and oppression over the outer masses, but will be there in 50 years or so?

Thanks Jake. I hear your Gravid concept it pretty awesome too. Are you going to post it sometime?

The post apocalyptic thing is kind of close. It’s actually a terraforming engine on Mars that has been converted into a ghetto for the genetically modified human Martians.
