On another note, I was going to lay out this book in InDesign, but after considering the cost of InDesign and the infrequency with which I would use it, I decided to look at other options.

Fortunately I stumbled upon Scribus. It’s a no-frills, open source layout tool. It’s not as slick as InDesign, but so far it looks like it’s getting the job done without any real annoyances. And I didn’t pay one red cent for it.
